Here is the problem: We installed the supplied PRW flexplate correctly (it's labelled engine side) with ARP bolts and torqued them to spec. We then test fit the convertor in the crank. Due to being painted it was a tight fit and did not turn freely.

Web21 mei 2024 · Ok so I installed my stroker motor the other day and tried to bolt the torque converter to the flexplate. As I turn the crank to line up the bolts the torque converter moves as well due to friction of it being up against the flexplate. After doing some research I found some say that the torque converter must not be seated in all the way. Web17 aug. 2010 · Edit: you may want to check that the mounting bolts for the flex plate to the crank shaft are tight also. Disconnect the torque converter, push it back, start it and see if the noise is still there. There should be no run out in the flex plate. Tighten the crank bolts to 85 ft lbs, install transmission, rotate torque converter untill the cover drain plugs line up with the notches in the flex plate, bolt flex plate to converter cover, and tighten to 28 ft lbs. Paint all the covers, the starter, and the crossmember black and put them back. Web17 feb. 2009 · Push the torque converter back into the transmission as far as it will go. Using feeler gauges or calipers measure the gap between the flexplate converter mounting pad and the torque converter mounting pad. If gap distance is between .060" and .187" it is OK to bolt up the torque converter. If the gap is greater than .187" install a .060" flat ... burning in my lower abdomen
